He’s been playing D&D since about 12, when his older cousin took him on his first adventure (killing his noble dwarf Silvertip with a man-eating plant). Shawn resides in Dallas, Texas, where he regularly games on Friday nights – “games” being used loosely, as their sessions tend to deteriorate quickly into discussions of obsolete operating systems and old movie quotes. This is Shawn’s first online PBM game, although he’s participated in several snail-mail games before.

Concept: An elven slave girl redeemed as a servant of Shar.
Appearance:

Long black hair flows like water over the shoulders of her black cloak. Her green eyes flash like emeralds in a face as pale and smooth as an alabaster statue. Her features are too angular, too exotic- too other- to be human, but she is undeniably beautiful. The floor length velvet cloak obscures her body from sight but she moves like a blade of grass before the wind. What she wears or carried underneath that cloak is anyone's guess.
Personality:

Alethra learned early on that to speak up, to attract attention, to cry out, to react or appear to care in almost any way was to be punished. After years of abuse she was a watcher by nature, now, a silent observer. She could go for days without opening her mouth if given her preference.

While this might seem like a good trait in an information gatherer, the Church did not regard such passivity in one of their own as a positive. As a simple Cloak, perhaps her docile nature could go unremarked or at least passed off as a strange quirk of a magic using subhuman, but as a representative of Shar she is expected to assert her rank. This was the hardest lesson for her to learn during her training- to speak up, to demand, to push forward- and she still has trouble with being assertive, especially to more forceful individuals.

She is, however, absolutely assured when it comes to her abilities. She has an innate connection to Shar and knows that her magic, her freedom, and her life are all due to the influence of the Justiciars. Alethra is loyal to Shar's church, the Justiciars, and the Brotherhood before anything or anyone else. Whether result or cause, this leads her to have few friends and to give her trust to strangers only very slowly.
